Budgeting Your Way to a Great Frugal Vacation

While you’re on vacation, you likely want to spend as much time as possible with your family. You can go out to eat, go to a water park, play in the hotel pool or just relax in the hotel room. When you start looking for a hotel room, try to bundle multiple services in one deal so that you can save money. If you plan to fly, then your plane ticket can be reserved along with your hotel room. This could lead to a discount on one or both services. Los Angeles hotels and others across the country usually have deals where you can get one night free after you pay for two or three. This is a benefit if you find that you have extra time to spend on vacation or you don’t have a lot of money to spend on the room but want to enjoy the area.

Don’t bother purchasing extra toiletries just to take on the trip unless they are necessary. The hotel will provide the items that you need, including shampoo, soap and toilet paper. You will also be provided with towels and washcloths. If you run out of supplies, all you need to do is ask for more from the office. Not taking these items will also make your suitcase lighter.

Use your cell phone to find apps that can help you find inexpensive restaurants, attractions and hotels. Some businesses will have coupons that you can use with your cell phone so that you don’t have to print them or clip them from a paper. An example would be an app that helps you find attractions for children or one that helps you find hotels with free happy hours. Search online for daily deals. There are sites where you can get tickets to activities for at least half off the original price. You will probably have to wait until there are a certain number of people who have signed up for the deal before the purchase, but it’s a great way to save money, especially for a large family. There are also discounts for restaurants on these sites.
