Moneysaving Tips When Travelling Internationally

1,  Research off peak travel times

It makes sense, but at the times when the airlines have empty seats you are able to buy them  for less. An example is easy jet flight to Palma in the winter are from 20 and in the summer over five times as much.

 2, indirect flights

Often if you are willing to change flights instead of going direct you  will be able to find lower fare. By considering stop overs you may get to visit additional destination whist saving money.

3, Excess Baggage

Instead of paying for excess baggage charges on an airline, why not use an online international parcel delivery service to send the bag to your hotel first. Sending a parcel to France using an economy road service can be very reasonable in cost far less than paying an airlines excess  baggage charges.

4, Pre book airport parking

If you turn up on the day of your flight and go to airport parking you will have to pay list rates. However by going onto their websites as early as possible you can find early bookers discounts.  You can also look for park and ride services which usually offer better rates, but you need to allow more time as the car park is usually outside of the airport by a short distance.

5, Consider multiple airports

Sometimes the same journey can be much cheaper from a less popular alternative airport.   So it is worth shopping around.

6, Bring  your own food

The airlines and trains know that they have a captive market for food and drink.  So they charge high prices for the refreshments that they serve. Save you money by bringing your own food and drink with you from the local supermarket will save you a packet.

 7, Home Swaps

If you are willing to swap homes while you are away you can save a lot of money on accommodation.

8, Save money on currency exchange

If you change currency while you are abroad the exchange rate will be higher than changing it locally at a high street bank. If you keep your receipt they will usually buy it back from you at the same rate when you return if you have any left.

9, Get lower cost travel insurance

If you shop around online you can find a wide range of travel insurance policies. If buy a policy for 12 months it can work out much cheaper than buying cover for individual trips. Sometimes you may find that your bank-account or credit card has benefits that include free travel insurance, so it is worth checking these before buying your policy.

10, Restaurants

Eat like locals, sometimes the smaller restaurants and bars used by the locals will be far more affordable that then high profile restaurants in the city centres. Local   city guides can help you to find the best food on a budget.

I  hope that you will find that these trips help you to save money when you are travelling abroad.
