10 days Sight of India with Ganges Tour starts in Kolkata, as the former capital of British India, Kolkata retains a feast of colonial-era architecture contrasting starkly with urban slums and dynamic new-town suburbs with their air- conditioned shopping malls.
Later the tour will take you to Jaipur, known as the Pink City. Amazing palaces, forts and monuments will provide you with memories lasting a lifetime. The city was painted in pink in the 17th century to welcome the Prince of Wales. Today, you will notice many buildings and houses still painted pink.
After Jaipur you will be brought to the city of Agra, famous for the monument Taj Mahal. Completed in 1653, the Taj Mahal is a mausoleum commissioned by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his late wife Mumtaz Mahal. Agra is also famous for two other buildings that are listed as UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites, the Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri.
From Agra you will head to Haridwar and Rishikesh : Propitiously located at the point where the Ganges emerges from the Himalaya, Haridwar (also called Hardwar) is Uttarakhand’s holiest Hindu city, and pilgrims arrive here in droves to bathe in the fast-flowing Ganges. The sheer number of people gathering around Har-ki-Pairi Ghat give Haridwar a chaotic but reverent feel.
Last city of the tour will be Delhi, with visiting the ancient monuments and historical grounds in Delhi. Among these sights, you will be taken to Jama Masjid, which is one of the most famous mosques in India.
