The Gold Coast is one of the best places to visit in Queensland. If you want to get away from the crowded beaches, then go for a Gold Coast car hire, head for the hills inland, and enjoy the serenity of natural rainforests, vineyards, and farms. Try these five activities while there.
Enjoy fine wine
The Gold Coast Hinterland is a favorite spot for wine lovers all over the country. In fact, it’s one of the region’s fastest growing wine producers. Mount Nathan, Mount Tamborine, and Canungra have plenty of amazing wineries to choose from.
Enjoy nature in Springrook National Park
This national park offers some great hiking. The track to Natural Bridge formed over the course of millions of years of water wearing away at a cave roof. This track is one of the most popular in the park, and it’s a great place to stop and have a picnic. If you visit at night during the summer, you can see nature light up the night on a guided tour to spot glow-worms, luminous fungi, and fireflies.
Have some tasty cheese
An hour from Brisbane, you will find The Cheese Shop and Factory. Have your pick of delicious, hand-made cheeses that you can sample and buy. They produce small batches of other dairy products as well. No doubt you could spend a whole day sampling all that this little gem has to offer.
Marvel at the rainforest
When you visit Tamborine Rainforest, you can’t leave without walking the skywalk. The skywalk is suspended 30 metres above the ground, among the exquisite rainforest canopy, as well as rainforest animals. The skywalk is 1.5 km long, and lets viewers get a bird’s eye view of the lush rainforest. At the end of the walk are the beautiful crystal Cedar Creek rock pools.
Meet some alpalca friends
If you love alpacas, or just want to see some up close, head to the Mountainview Alpaca Farm for some family-friendly fun. Pat friendly alpacas while enjoying the beautiful views of Tamborine Mountain. You can even inexpensively buy a large bag of food to feed your new friends. You’ll also fine alpaca-related gifts in the gift shop.
