THE SAILBOAT – KAMEHAMEHA FAST 395
Kamehameha is a 39.5 feet (12,2 meters) sailboat designed by renown yacht designer German Frès and constructed by the Brazilian shipyard Fast Yachts, in 1992. Conceived as a racing/cruising yacht with capacity of up to 8 people, the FAST 395 is a very competitive sailboat, even by today´s standards. At the same time, she is very comfortable below decks with her 3 spacious rooms: 2 double cabins, 2 heads, 1 saloon with navigation table and full kitchen. Kamehameha went through a full overhaul in 2010, resulting in the replacement of her main systems. i.e.: rigging, engine, propeller, rudder, electric wiring and piping. Both front and main sails were replaced by brand new North Sails in mid-2014.
THE SKIPPER
Born in Rio in 1956, the undersigned always enjoyed sea-related activities like surfing, windsurfing and sailing since very young. His career as a financial executive in the corporate world evolved parallel to his passion for these sports and allowed the acquisition of Kamehameha in January 2008. After significant sailing mileage from coastal trips in Brazil, he was licensed Amateur Captain by the Brazilian Navy in 2013. Sail in Rio was founded as consequence of this passion and of the increasing demand for sailing chartering in Rio de Janeiro.
