Dubai is not just popular for the cultural sights and the skyline, but it is also famous for its Global Village which is set up as a seasonal attraction for the tourists visiting the city. The Global Village is the largest project in the world done for the tourism industry. It includes the culture and the entertainment in one place for the tourists to visit. The village is situated on the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and is open during the winter season, which is from October to March. Tourists find the winter season to be more comfortable for visiting the deserts of Dubai. The village is dubbed as the theme park and is a family destination for the tourists. It stretches to almost 3 million square feet.
The Global Village showcases 30 pavilions, each representing a different country from all around the world. Handicrafts, trinkets and cuisines are showcased in these pavilions. Each pavilion represents their country with a number of kiosks. The food court has different stalls showcasing the cuisines from all the countries in the world.
The village is similar to a fair with not just shopping but also entertainment for the children and the adults. There are a number of rides like the theme parks that include Ferris wheel and roller coasters. Fantasy Island is the theme park inside the Global Village with up to 36 rides in it for the kids and adults to enjoy. Fairy tales are played for the kids on ice which includes the stories of Aladdin and Snow White.
Apart from the regular games and rides, there are daily events available for the tourists in the form of fireworks, fountain shows and dance shows. The daily events are displayed depending on the climatic conditions of the city. Free Wi-Fi is available in all areas of the Global Village. Heritage attractions are made available for the tourists. Concerts by the Arabic musicians and Asian artists are performed every evening throughout the season.
The Global Village is open throughout the week and is open to the visitors during the evenings. They operate even during the weekends and the public holidays. The parking space is enormous and shuttles are available for the tourists to travel from the parking lot to the entrance of the village. There is no entrance fee for the children and seniors while only a small fee is charged for the admission of the other visitors.
Global Village brings all the countries in the world at one place. Stalls provide country specific items that can be bought by the visitors. Small trinkets like handicrafts and perfumes in Dubai can be purchased in the Global Village as gifts for the tourists to take back home.
