With 2015 well underway we can start thinking about the summer holidays ahead. Whether you’re venturing to the UK from abroad or are a local looking for a stay-cation- Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland have bountiful spots that are perfect for pitching your tent. All you have to do is round up the troops, pack the basic equipment (check onsite facilities beforehand) and decide on a destination. Let’s take a look at what they all have to offer.
Scotland
Beckoning you with dramatic landscapes of lochs, ruins and hillsides, Scotland has some of the very best when it comes to the Great British outdoors. To fully experience the natural setting of the Highlands, setting up your tent in the wilderness is free, but you need to adhere to the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. Aviemore, is a popular camping spot with a loyal community, based in The Cairngorms National Park. Loch Ness is another great area to camp, with a mythical twist: will you spot the Nessie monster in the loch? If not, you can always go on a mountain bike trail or try your hand at kayaking.
