MACHU PICCHU MENU (4 day adventure tour, mountain bike, zip line, hiking)
Day 1 (cycling day, mountain or road bike*, 80 km downwards):
Welcome to a real adventure package, full of adrenaline and fun, that culminates in a visit of one of the seven wonders of the modern world: the Inca city of Machu Picchu. We start early in the morning, just when the sun rises. Our private transportation takes us from your hotel to the Sacred Valley of the Incas in about two hours. We stop in the town of Ollantaytambo for a typical breakfast, to get ready for our cycling day. The journey goes all the way up to a pass called Abra de Malaga, connecting the Sacred Valley and the beginning of the jungle. At 4360 m.a.s.l., with an incredible view on snowcovered high mountain “Veronica”, we start our biking adventure. A safety briefing, getting familiar with the bikes, putting on some warm clothes, and go. The nice new road leads downhill, we pass through breathtaking landscapes, feeling the dry air of the highlands. Further down, we notice the change of the vegetation and colors, it gets warmer and so do our muscles. Time to take off some clothes, have some water and a little snack. Continuing the adventure, we enter the first part of the jungle, the different flora and fauna, the fields, the sounds and the heat. We stop on the way to enjoy our box lunches and refresh. Then we keep going and finish in Santa Maria, a jungle town where we get off the bikes and jump in our private car to reach the final stop of this first day: Santa Teresa. Here we will set up camp at a luxury site, super comfy and with a relaxing wood-heated hydro massage hot tub. Dinner, a cold beer and early bed time will help us relax and recharge for the next day.
Day 2 (adventure day, zip line):
After breakfast we will have a short briefing for our next adventure, the zip line in the Valley of Santa Teresa. It’s a short hike up from our camp to the station, from there we go down on six different cables in different altitudes. Get your cameras ready for the best pictures and videos flying across the Peruvian jungle. On the way back we have a typical lunch in town. In the afternoon, we will visit the hot springs of Cocalmayo, where we can enjoy the water and relax! Back at the camp, we have a typical dinner and go to sleep.
Day 3 (hiking day):
Early in the morning, right after breakfast, we start a full day hike. First we visit the archeological site of Llactapata in the middle of this mysterious jungle. On a three-hour guided tour, we will have the chance to explore this place and get a first impression of the Inca architecture in this area. Before we move on, we enjoy our box lunches and some water. Then we reach the railroad tracks that lead us to the town of Aguas Calientes. We arrive there in the early afternoon. After accommodating our rooms in the hotel, we enjoy a walk through this town, dinner and get ready for the highlight of our trip the next day.
Day 4 (Machu Picchu):
One more time waking up early, a nice breakfast at the hotel, getting on the bus, and we are on our way to Machu Picchu. Arriving after 30 minutes, a private tour guide will show us this wonderful Inca site, and then we have some time on our own to take pictures and enjoy our favorites spots. Back in town in the afternoon, we have lunch and wait for the train that takes us to Ollantaytambo and take a transport back to Cusco. What a wonderful experience of Inca culture. Come and taste it with Tasting The Road!!
