Red Sea is one of the best places in the world to visit, a scuba diving visit for sure! Actually it is rated top second diving around the world!
But where is best to dive in the Red Sea? You have 3 places to choose from! Otherwise you are just having fun dives ( which are awesome by the way! )
1- Welcome to Egypt! You never want to miss the SS-Thistlegorm! The queen of all wrecks! The British armed Merchant Navy ship built in 1940, She was sunk on 6 October 1941 near Ras Muhammad.. Ready for traveling through time? a giant underwater museum is waiting for you.. a huge grave yard.. Diving SS Thistlegorm requires certification as a trained diver, beyond entry level, through a recognised scuba training agency. In any event, divers visit the wreck at their own risk.
You might also see interesting animals around the wreck like tuna, barracuda, Batfish, Morey eel, Lionfish, Stonefish, Crocodilefish, Scorpionfish and Sea turtle.
2- Where are you going! You just finished with the great thistlegorm and no need to go far away! We are close to Ras muhammad! Surrounded by fringing coral reefs that emerged after a change in the coastline 70,000 years ago, the park is characterised by vertical overhangs at least 100m deep.
But just think about it, diving at 40 meters depth and it just feels like 5 meters when you look down there and see the dark… this is one of the most popular diving places in the world, most attractive in Red Sea for it’s easy and relaxing atmosphere…
The site’s eastern side is a sheer, vertical wall, illuminated by swarms of orange and purple anthias, and black and white pullers dancing about the purple and orange soft coral trees. You can’t miss!
3- Tired? Get some sleep! We are heading south! YES YES YES! The Elphinstone, the 300m length sharks house! Excited ha? Just make sure you wake up early before sunrise, so your chance to see a shark rises to 90% just take care of the strong currents! As usually diving centers use speed boats for that dive, but you will find huge safari boats floating around, yes everyone is searching for sharks! Fish life includes milions of anthias, Napoleonfish, large tuna and schools of jacks and snappers.
P.S show respect to the hammerhead!
That’s our round-up of the best dive sites in Egypt, there are many others to explore aswell which is why Egypt is so popular year after year with Scuba Divers of all levels!
