Merzouga desert trip in 3 days 2 nights:
The golden dunes arise over the Moroccan village like mountains. The dirt road that runs throughout the main street of village is lined with cultured coffee shops as you can see the Algerian border at a distance. Camel caravans are such a common sight. The sound of Gnaoa music fills the towns, finishing off the day watching the sun set over the dunes like magic.
Day 1:
We’ll leave Marrakech in the morning hours and pass through the Atlas Mountains. We’ll stop along the route for breakfast and some photo opportunities. As we make our way into the desert, we’ll stop in Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO-protected Kasbah featured in lots of movies including Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator and Jewel with the Nile. We’ll enjoy lunch inside the Hollywood of Morocco, Ouarzazate, before going to Boumaine where we all will rest for the night.
Day 2:
Shortly after breakfast we’ll make out way to Tinerhir to explore this Todra Gorge where we’ll walk between the sheer walls of this stunning gorge. We’ll stop for lunch inside the small village of Tinjdad after which we’ll pass through Arfoud, Rissani and our day with some walking time in Merzouga. We’ll have time for you to relax by the swimming pool of Kasbah Palais before beginning the highlight of our trip-the camel ride. Our hour and a half breathtaking and tranquil journey of the sun setting over the desert. Once at this camp, we’ll enjoy traditional Moroccan cuisine as the nomads entertain us with their music by the fire.
Day 3:
We’ll awake early to view the sun rise in the Sahara Desert before climbing back onto the camels and making our in the past to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, we’ll head back to Marrakech before passing Nkoub, Tazarin, the Drâa Pit and Ouarzazate.
