If you ask me to begin saying words that come to my mind the moment I hear the word ‘Australia’, you will be in for a surprise as I can say a string of words non-stop all related to Australia! The best part is that I would not have realized otherwise that just how many tid bits I have stored in my mind about Australia.
Starting with the most common of things like the animals that have become the face of Australia like koala bears and kangaroos. How many times have you pictured kangaroos or koala bears the moment you heard Australia? Is it not surprising how much of a reflex action this is! Then you have the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge, Kakadu National Park, Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef for the people who love the outdoors.
And then the colour yellow, it somehow seems to be the colour I automatically associate with Australia. Maybe it has something to do with their cricket team, who always don a yellow uniform, but it is another reflexive instinct that is always totally Australia. I can easily conjure up images of a kangaroo hopping around wearing a yellow shirt!
Since I am a fan of cricket, I cannot forget the era of amazing players in Australia’s team like Ricky Ponting, Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne. That team was the dream team any country would have loved to have! With perfect team dynamics and interpersonal skills, it came as little surprise that they kept winning one World Cup after another! Winners that is a totally Australia’s way to live!
As if these were not enough to make one fall in love with Australia over and over, there are far more things that Australia has to offer. Think of names like Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts. Yes, you guessed right! All these are Australians! I wonder what more gems will arise from Australia and make their way to the top in Hollywood! I am sure most of you would have the fleeting image of Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman’s movie Australia in your mind, and would probably be saying, ‘Ahh. So that is why those two were in a movie called Australia!’ The cowboy backdrop in the movie was a beautiful insight into the rich cultural history of Australia.
And of course, the fireworks! How can one think do Australia and not think of the way Sydney celebrates New Year’s Eve, filling the night with full of splendor? The fireworks are so magnificent and unique to Australia that people travel miles to be here on New Year’s Eve. This is exactly how lovely and lively the people of Australia are, really festive.
Apart from all these incredible directions Australia can take, it is also a wonderful vacation spot if you love the beach and the sun, and let’s be real, who does not love that? With perfect temperatures and breathtaking beaches, Australia is a heaven in summers!
So go ahead and explore to create your own experience that is literally and totally Australia!
