5 Things You Need To Know Before You Go To Costa Rica

Planning some amazing Costa Rica vacations is not a difficult job. You just need to know very well your budget and the kind of things you want to do once you get to that beautiful and diverse country.

Spend the days just lying on the beach, experience adventure activities like zip lining and rafting or discover the natural wonders of the country…all of that is possible in a Costa Rica travel without having any restriction.

Having said that, it’s important to know 5 things before you visit Costa Rica. All of them to ensure the best experience there:

  1. Weather

One of the most important things to take into account when you are planning to visit Costa Rica is the weather. If you want to have a lot of beach days, it is better if you don’t choose winter to come! Summer or dry season goes from December to March, and winter or rainy season from April to late October. The rainy season is often characterized by morning sun and afternoon rain.

  1. Touristic seasons

Obviously, touristic seasons are defined by the weather in Costa Rica. Dry season will be the high and peak season while rainy season will be the green season. During the high tourism season, not surprisingly, the prices at hotels increase. During Christmas, New Year and Easter week, prices go up even further.

  1. Luggage weight restrictions

Depending on the places you are going to visit, there are important luggage weight restrictions you have to be aware of. If you are going to Tortuguero by boat, approximately 25lbs per person is the maximum luggage allowance you will have. If you are taking a local flight to/from any airstrip in Costa Rica, approximately 40lbs per person is the maximum luggage weight they are going to let you bring.

  1. Food

Costa Rica have a lot of dining options for every taste and international food restaurants are throughout the country. Also, a lot of fast food options are present there. But if you want to try the local cuisine, you have to try the gallo pinto for breakfast and the casado for lunch. If you are going to the Caribbean side, Limón or Tortuguero, trying the Rice & Beans is mandatory.

  1. International flights information

And last but not least, it is important for you to know that for any international flight you have to be 3 hours prior at the airport. Have this in mind when you plan the times of your itinerary.
