Itinerary:
Day 1
Departure from Athens or any other major Greek mainland city to Kipi village in Zagoria area. Kipi are located approximately 6 hours driving from Athens and 3 hours driving from Thessaloniki.
Check-in at the hotel and dinner. Overnight.
Day 2
08:00 am. Breakfast, quick check at the bikes and beginning of our 48 kilometers MTB tour of the day. The tour has a total ascent of 1350 meters, combining dirt roads and mountain trails in good proportion. The altitude we will be cycling ranges from 900 to 1400 meters, moving through forested areas, under the shade of tall pine and fir trees. We will also get the chance to cross some of the aforementioned arched stone bridges with their unique architecture. Total duration of cycling time estimated at approximately 6 hours. Return to the hotel.
Dinner – Overnight
Day 3
08:00 am. Breakfast and then beginning of the second day’s MTB tour. Today we cover a distance of about 40 kilometers starting from our hotel to reach the next beautiful village of Dilofo. Then through the villages of Vitsa and Monodendri we reach an altitude of 1400m and the breathtaking viewpoint of Oxia where we admire the famous Vikos gorge. Later we begin our return through, the magical “Steps of Vigla”. Depending on the weather conditions during the winter we might have to carry our bikes for about 500m. Total duration of the tour approximately 6 hours.
Day 4
08:00 am. Breakfast and check – out of the hotel. We are heading near the city of Ioannina to experience a unique rafting tour in either Aoos or Arachthos river (depending on the water condition). Duration of rafting is about 3 hours. After a quick snack we are heading to visit Ioannina city where free time will be given to explore the city. You can visit the old castle of the city and the beautiful lake front. Later at the afternoon we will leave Ioannina to head for Metsovo at a distance of about 40 kilometeres where we will spend the next days. Check-in and dinner to our hotel.
Day 5
08:00 am. Breakfast and beginning our MTB tour of the day. Today’s highlight is “Valia Kalda”. one of the main areas of the National Preserve of Pindos. We have to load our gear on the vehicle and drive for about 35 kilometers until we reach the village “Milia”. We start on asphalt terrain, until we take the dirt road leading us inside the preserve. The whole tour remains in high altitudes, around 1400 – 1600 meters and the scenery is magnificent. Total distance of the tour is about 50 kilometers and the duration is approximately 7 hours.
Return to Metsovo – Dinner – Overnight.
Day 6
08:00 am. Breakfast and today’s half day activity could include a small MTB tour around Metsovo or a hiking tour also around Metsovo.
Day 7
Today instead of biking tour we are going to have a walking tour around Metsovo. We begin with the Folklore Museum in order to understand better the history and the culture of the area. The gallery of E. Averof foundation is our next stop. Its permanent exhibition comprises representative works by the major Greek painters, printmakers and sculptors of the 19th and 20th century. The museum’s Collection is regarded as one of the most complete and important of this period. Last we meet Saint Paraskevi, an old church located in the middle of Metsovo. Last we will visit the local famous winery “Katogi Averof” where we will taste local wines. We celebrate our last dinner of the tour with a BBQ to remember for a life time.
Day 8
Check-out from our hotel and we are getting ready for the trip back to Athens or Thessaloniki
