Split/Trogir – (MILNA) – BOL – ZLATNI RAT
About 9:30 a.m. we will depart from the agreed base. We have planned to go straight ahead to the place Bol on the island of Brac, the ride takes cca one hour. If You would like to, on the way there we can stop at the small old fishing place Milna (it’s on half of our ride to Bol).
MILNA is located on the western part of the island Brac, 18 kilometers from Supetar. It is famous by its marvelous bay, in which the ships of the emperor Diokletian have found a secure harbour in the time of the building of his palace in Split. Today there is a marina with several berths, modern equipped for a secure stay and the service of yachtsmen from the whole world. Here You can eventually go for a short walk or have coffee. But again, this stop is a option. If You decided to stop , after the short visit, we will continue the journey towards Bol. Bol is situated on the southern part of the island Brac, and is the oldest town on the coast of Brac. This little town was founded long ago and became an extraordinary tourist oasis because of the wide gravel and sandy beaches which expands over 10 km and the sources of drinking water.
It fascinates with crystal clear water, wonderful nature and the virgin beauty of the stony island houses the Croatian poet Tin Ujevic sung about. This little town has kept its Mediterranean spirit. The narrow, stony little roads and the wide piazzetas are simple and typically mediteranneous noisy.
You will open in Bol the doors of history, which are going back to the ancient times. The Roman piscinas testify it and the grave monuments (stela) and relief. There are also the old Christian sarcophagus with the engraved crosses, the pre Romanic church of St. Ivan and St. Tudor (11th century.) on which foundations is discovered an late antique group of buildings, the residence of the bishop (12th century), the church Madonna of graces (15.-17th century.), the fortified gothic summer palace (end of 15th and beginning of 16th. century), the renaissance and baroque palace with the worthy gallery of contemporary Croatian art ‘Branislav Deskovic’ (end of 17th century) and the local church Madonna of Karmel with the motive of an angel with the handkerchief of Veronica (finished at the end of the 18lh century).
Blaca Desert was once a famous Glagolitic desert, elevated along high, steep cliff. Today Blaca is one of the most beautiful mountainous excursion sites on Brac.
Dragon’s cave and its reliefs is the first-class monument of the cave monastery life of Glagolitic priests in the 15th century.
A special importance for the spiritual and cultural life of Bol was the founding of the Dominican community in 1462, and the construction of the monastery in 1475 which keeps today collections of pre historical and ancient maritime archeology, Roman and early Croatian architecture and sculpture, a numismatic collection, and collections of incunabula’s and sacral objects. The museum has also a painting Madonna with child and Saints from the Venetian painter Tintoretto from 1563.
Like most Dalmatian places, in Bol You can taste great Mediterean specialties and taste quality wine. You have wide range of restaurants and Dalmatian taverns. You can choose it by Yourself or tell us ahead to reserve a table for You. At some time in the afternoon we will visit the most famous beach in Croatia, Zlatni rat.
Zlatni Rat Beach stretches almost vertically into the sea, changing its shape and location depending on the winds, as if it were made of liquid gold. Its elegance and allure have made it the symbol of both the island and coastal Croatia, being put on the front pages of prestigious global newspapers.
Unfortunately, to approach the beach by boat is not allowed, You can reach it only by swimming till there. With an earlier agreement with the skipper we could arrange anchoring there and enjoy the rest of the afternoon in the bright blue sea. You can expand Your enjoyment with water toys such as blades fish, water skies, stand up board paddle etc. If You would like so, just tell us one day before the departure.
At cca. 6:00 p.m. we will take the departure to the base. You have still one more hour of a great one-day adventure to enjoy the sunset abboard.
