Daily Itinerary:
DAY 1 San José: Arrival and Welcome Dinner
Receive a warm, Costa Rican welcome at the SJO airport and then you’ll be transferred to your hotel. We will have a welcome dinner as a group and receive a detailed explanation of the upcoming training schedule (and weekend race if itinerary applies.) We’ll have our customary glass of wine to relax and share stories and expectations of the week to come.

DAY 2 San José: Fun with Fitness and Colorful Culture
Savor an early morning cup of Costa Rican coffee and a hearty breakfast before a run through the Sabana Park only 15 minutes from your hotel in San Jose where runners gather each morning. From there we hit the gym — we call it the “Fight Club” for some of the most-innovative Cross Fit training techniques. We will be training about three hours in total to really get your heart pumping and ready for action in Costa Rica.
You’ll certainly be hungry after all of that, so now we take you to explore the colorful markets of the San José area to try local food and see a part of Costa Rican culture that few tourists ever get to experience with Urban Adventures. Special dinner with your group.

DAY 3 Arenal Volcano: Arenal means Adventure!
Early rise and shine because today we do a guided hike of the active and captivating Poas Volcano, then some photo ops of the La Paz Waterfall, have a nice traditional Costa Rican lunch and head toward the Arenal Volcano to arrive to the Chachagua Rainforest Lodge (or similar) tucked-away at the outskirts of the Children’s Eternal Rainforest. We’ll do a twilight run through the surrounding rural landscape and finish back at the lodge for a dip in the freshwater, spring-fed pool and toast to a day well done with a glass of wine. Fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle around you!

DAY 4 Arenal Volcano: Run, Fun & Hot Springs
Today may feel a little like boot camp because we get a super early start to make the most of our day. We’ll head toward the base of the behemoth Arenal Volcano and do an intense run along a rainforest trail near the Arenal Volcano National Park. Cerro Chato extinct volcano for an intense hike straight up and then cool off in the rushing waters of the spectacular La Fortuna Waterfall. The hike up Cerro Chato takes about 2 hours for those in good condition and you’re bound to see amazing wildlife and get great views of the Arenal Volcano along the way! We will then have a healthy light lunch.
In the afternoon enjoy the Canyoning in the Lost Canyon: Choose to plunge into a gorgeous rainforest canyon rappelling down tropical waterfalls, jumping into crystalline pools and river tracing in one of the most-isolated most-magical places in the world in the Lost Canyon.
In the evening, relax in natural hot-springs that are locally-owned by Doña Mireya and her family. There are five naturally-fed pools of different temperatures, one of which is always the perfect temperature for relaxing as the sun sets. Dinner is a wonderful home-style meal served in a rustic wooden ranch where you can relax in private hot spring waters.

DAY 5 Tamarindo/Langosta: Paddling and Piña Coladas!
After an energy-boosting early breakfast, we leave the lush rainforest and head to the golden Coast of Guanacaste and go white water rafting on the Tenorio River on the way!
We start our adventure with running to the starting-point of the wild Río Tenorio Class 3-4 River. On our run, we pass by the picturesque Lake Arenal and up into the hills with views of volcanoes all around us. You’ll spot the Arenal, Miravalles and Tenorio volcanoes along the way. At the top of the ridge, you’ll run beneath giant, electricity-producing wind mills as you arrive to the deep, red rock canyon of the Tenorio River.
You’ll get a thorough explanation on safety procedures and receive your top-quality equipment before embarking down this intense river. Enjoy up to 2 exhilarating hours of white water action on this beautiful crystalline river. Get wet and wild and finish off with Costa Rica’s most-exciting river rapid — the 12-ft Cascabel Falls waterfall drop! Catch your breath as you enjoy a swim, a tropical fruit fiesta and cold drinks followed by a hearty Costa Rican lunch at the end of this exciting adventure!
Looking for a little less adventure? You can also do our relaxing, entertaining and educational Monkey Boat Safari Float on the lower section of the Tenorio River to see plenty of wildlife. Includes a delicious lunch.
Then we continue on to one of Costa Rica’s best beaches and settle in for some delicious Piña Coladas right on the beach! Dinner on your own.

DAY 6 Tamarindo/Langosta: Beach Time!
Wake to the sound of crashing waves just a few meters from your room. You’ll have time to meditate on your week’s adventures from your exclusive seaside resort and participate in a yoga session right on the beach for a full-body stretch. You can then opt to go sea kayaking to the Capitan rock island for a thorough workout and picturesque outing!
You will have time to enjoy the beaches of this tropical paradise on the gorgeous Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. In the afternoon we’ll get ready to continue hill running.

Altitude: Sea level to 100 meters above sea level
Terrain: Gravel Road 80% Pavement 5% and Sandy Beach 15%
A vehicle and certified guide will be nearby to provide assistance and hydration.

DAY 7 Tamarindo/Langosta: Relax Time!
FREE DAY to enjoy. This day you may enjoy a day of leisure to hang out at the hotel at the pool, go for a beach run or take a catamaran Dolphin Viewing & Snorkeling cruise at an extra charge.
Tonight we get together at dinner to review our mileage and group discussion on accomplishments, share photos and fondest memories of your adventures in Costa Rica

DAY 8 Back Home!
Enjoy one, final swim in the ocean or run on the beach before transferring to Liberia International airport for your flight home.
