Things to consider when Travelling to a Destination Wedding

With overseas travel becoming much more affordable, many more of us are choosing to travel overseas for a destination wedding. If you are planning a destination wedding, or if you have been invited to one, these are some of the important aspects of travelling that you’ll need to consider.

Getting cheaper flights – it is usually cheaper to travel as a group so find out what kind of discounts you might be entitled to if you all travel together. Find out how many of your friends and family are willing to travel in a group so that you can maximize the discounts that you qualify for.

Travelling Destinations

Booking the flight – If you want to save even more money on the flights, you will have to consider travelling out of season; the early autumn and winter months are more affordable than peak season flights. It is also a wise idea to book early if you want to get a specific flight and to book as a group if you are travelling together with friends and family.

Insurance – no one wants to think about insurance, but if you’re travelling overseas then this is the first thing that you should organise. If you are unable to travel for any reason and suddenly find that you are not able to attend the wedding and don’t have insurance, you will not be entitled to any of your money back.

Climate

you need to be prepared for the climate. For instance, the Caribbean is one of the most popular places for destination weddings, however, the climate can be changeable and hard to predict. Before travelling find out more all can about you destination’s climate so that you can be prepared for it.

Park wisely – be careful with the clothes you select when travelling to your wedding. Some clothes don’t tend to travel well when packed in suitcases and this can result in them looking creased and worn when you get your destination. Make sure the clothes you plan to wear for the wedding are easy to iron or perhaps look at crease resistant clothing so it will always look smart. Wedding dresses don’t travel well either, so that is another factor to take into consideration.

Confirm details – a few days before leaving for the wedding, it is a good idea to make sure that everybody has the travel arrangements written out in detail so everyone has a record of what is happening and when; make sure that you confirm all of the details the day before the wedding so that you can ensure that everyone travelling in the group is clear about the plans.

Decide where you want to go – with so many options out there these days, it’s difficult deciding where you want to hold your special day. In doing some research, I came across this article giving an overview of the top destination wedding locations for 2015. This will surely give you some great ideas.
